Installing an air conditioning system is a big decision. These are the concerns we are approached with most often. With so much to consider, we hope this section will answer some of your questions.
What capacity air conditioner do I need?
Draw a simple floor plan and measure the room's dimensions. Calculate the room's square footage (length x width), multiply 50 BTUH/sq.ft. and the resulting number is the BTUH requirement. Example: A room that is 10 feet x 15 feet. 10 x 15 = 150 x 50 (BTUH/sq.ft) = 7500. This room would require a 7500 BTUH Air Conditioner.
What is the life expectancy of an air conditioner?
Ductless Split Systems and Central Units usually last from 10 to 15 years.
Are repairs and parts readily available?
Yes. Most parts are available locally and we service air conditioners usually on the same day.
I have an older home, can my home handle the extra electrical load from an air conditioner?
Most homes are equipped with 100 AMP service. When our estimator arrives, he will check to make sure the service is adequate to handle the load.
What is the additional cost of electricity that I can expect?
It depends on several factors such as the amount of usage, the energy efficiency rating of the unit (use the highest efficiency unit available), and the application of the system. Call for a complete energy usage evalutation for any unit.
What types of Maintenance are available? How long will the maintenace take?
Basic Maintenance: Washing of filters, cleaning of drain line, check of blower wheel, check refrigerant levels, general check of entire system and performance check. Approximately 45 min - 1 hour
Premium Maintenance: Washing of filters, cleaning of drain line, check of refrigerant levels, general check of entire system, performance check and dismantling of indoor unit and washing blower wheel. Approximately 1 hr 45 min - 2 hours
How often should I clean my air conditioner filters or have a maintenance performed by Air Masters, Inc.?
You should clean your filters on your own either once or twice a month. If you have a central air conditioner and your filters are disposable type, you should check you filters periodically to gauge how often they need to be changed. If after 2 weeks they are dirty, you probably should change them every 2 weeks. However, they should be changed every month. Maintenance performed by Air Masters, Inc. is recommended at least once a year sometimes even twice a year, depending on usage. The more you use your unit, the dirtier it gets.

Can I re-use the ducting which is already installed for my old Ducted Air Conditioner?
Ducting is sized and placed according to the house layout and the desired air distribution, as long as the duct work meets the requirements of both the unit and the air-conditioned space then it is fine to keep the old ducting if it is in good condition. This would need to be confirmed with your air conditioning designer and installer for your particular requirements.
Can I re-use the piping which is already installed for my old Air Conditioner?
