Installing an air conditioning system is a big decision. These are the concerns we are approached with most often. With so much to consider, we hope this section will answer some of your questions.
What capacity air conditioner do I need?
Draw a simple floor plan and measure the room's dimensions. Calculate the room's square footage (length x width), multiply 50 BTUH/sq.ft. and the resulting number is the BTUH requirement. Example: A room that is 10 feet x 15 feet. 10 x 15 = 150 x 50 (BTUH/sq.ft) = 7500. This room would require a 7500 BTUH Air Conditioner.
What is the life expectancy of an air conditioner?
Ductless Split Systems and Central Units usually last from 10 to 15 years.
Are repairs and parts readily available?
Yes. Most parts are available locally and we service air conditioners usually on the same day.
I have an older home, can my home handle the extra electrical load from an air conditioner?
Most homes are equipped with 100 AMP service. When our estimator arrives, he will check to make sure the service is adequate to handle the load.
What is the additional cost of electricity that I can expect?
It depends on several factors such as the amount of usage, the energy efficiency rating of the unit (use the highest efficiency unit available), and the application of the system. Call for a complete energy usage evalutation for any unit.
What types of Maintenance are available? How long will the maintenace take?
Washing of filters, cleaning of drain line, check of refrigerant levels, general check of entire system, performance check and dismantling of indoor unit and washing blower wheel. Approximately 1 hr 45 min - 2 hours
